"Uzbekipaksanoat" Association

History of the “O‘zbekipaksanoat” Association

Sericulture and silk production in Uzbekistan have a history spanning many centuries and represent an important sector of agriculture, handicrafts, and export-oriented manufacturing.

To promote the comprehensive development of the sericulture industry and coordinate the entire production chain, from silkworm rearing and cocoon production to the manufacture of finished products, Resolution No. PQ-2856 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted on 29 March 2017. The resolution established the main principles for setting up the “O‘zbekipaksanoat” Association and organizing its activities.

The resolution identified several priority tasks, including expanding the feed base for sericulture, developing high-productivity silkworm breeds, increasing the volume and quality of cocoon production, modernizing processing facilities, expanding the production of finished silk products, and developing exports.

Particular attention was also given to promoting traditional handwoven carpet production, establishing cooperative relationships, supporting artisans, and creating employment opportunities for rural communities.

Information on the Association’s subsequent stages of development, organizational changes, and achievements is updated regularly on the basis of relevant official documents and verified statistical data.
